Presentation is very important to today's customers, so ensuring that glassware is not only practical but aesthetically pleasing is essential.The type of drinking vessels that operators choose will reflect the establishment's vibe, so if they aren't up to much, customers won't be impressed. From vintage-style glassware and gin balloons to tiki mugs and milk bottles, the type of glassware that's chosen can seriously influence consumers' opinions of the place. Shape and clarity of glassware are particularly important to ensure drinks service reflects the personality of a venue. There are a range of products on the market which can help to prolong the life of glassware, reducing breakages. Bob Wood, Director of DC Warewashing & Icemaking Systems advises "choose the baskets most appropriate for the types and heights of glasses that you use in your glasswasher. Baskets can also be compartmentalised with extenders and top surrounds or sloping which aid run-off and drying for sparkling results, particularly for glasses with stemmed bottoms where water often 'pools' in the upturned glasses". "The type of chemicals used can also impact on the quality and longevity of glassware, so it's important to use what suppliers and manufacturers recommend for their particular machines" adds Wood.
