Manufacturers and suppliers are falling
over themselves to woo customers with the
latest environmentally friendly products and
services, so much so that the options can
seem bewildering.

Here we take a look at some of the latest innovations and initiatives in the key areas which contribute most to a forward-thinking CSR policy. Warewashing is an area where substantial savings can be achieved.

With this in mind, caterers need to look for a machine capable of reducing the amount of energy, water and chemicals used utilising the latest technology. 

Bob Wood, Director, DC Warewashing & Icemaking Systems, recommends that by opting for machines which incorporate a low-volume wash tank, double-skinned hood and insulated boiler that improves heat recovery times, water, electrical and chemical usage costs are kept to''an absolute minimum'' while still ensuring the highest level of cleaning power and hygiene.

He also says it's worth considering the latest generation of 'smart' warewashers that have inbuilt intelligence: ''The new double-hood passthrough dishwashers have adjustable cycle times, thermo-stop, atmospheric boiler ensuring a constant rinse temperature, adjustable dosing and auto self-clean'', he says. ''A 4-colour 'traffic light' approach on the revolutionary TFT control panel gives simple and intuitive information on the status of the machine for operators as well as diagnostics for service engineers''.
